WHERE WE HAVE BEEN

Since 1925, Alliance Foods has been dedicated to solving complex problems for CPG manufacturers and brands. Founded as Jobbers Service, a small food brokerage company, over the decades we have grown and have transformed our business time and again to meet the needs of our vendor partners.

Throughout our history, we have operated as a sales agency, packaging services company, retail operator, merchandising company, and logistics solution provider, constantly adapting to the ever-changing food industry.

Today, we provide selling services to hundreds of private brand and brand manufacturers, serving as a vital link between our customers and retailers. As we move into our second century, the focus of our employee-owners remains firmly anchored in our mission: driving growth for our clients and strategic partners by providing selling services that exceed their expectations.

RETAIL EXPERIENCE

Fully understanding the retail landscape has always been a priority at Alliance Foods. Over our long history, we have worked closely with thousands of stores, and in our recent past, even operated as many as 25 Save-A-Lot food store locations. Though we ultimately sold off those stores to concentrate on our core business, we retained relevant hands-on perspective about retail operations that inform our approach to meaningful retail strategy.

No matter the channels you hope to reach, whether grocery, C&P, drug, club, mass, e-commerce or foodservice, our diverse retail experience is an asset for our partners.

PACKAGING

Seeing a need with many clients for an efficient, integrated packaging service, we launched our packaging division in the early 1970s. Today, as a packaging distributor, we provide comprehensive solutions, from design and prepress to inventory management.

Many of our clients come to us facing challenges with a fragmented packaging supply chain, with corresponding difficulties maintaining brand consistency. One client came to us using over 200 different packaging vendors, leading to inconsistent designs, high costs, and even FDA compliance problems. Working with the client, we implemented a streamlined and centralized packaging control process, virtually eliminating obsolete packaging and generating a $35 million revenue stream with a 15% gross profit margin.

Whether you are just beginning your distribution or managing a mature product line, our packaging experts can help you streamline your process and create cost efficiencies.

MERCHANDISING

Across a wide variety of grocery categories, Alliance has successfully sold secondary display vehicles, turned promotional items into permanent SKUs, and gained authorization of new SKUs.

Secondary display vehicles include display-ready pallets and floor stand shippers, which significantly improve program success through trial and awareness. A few examples of our category successes with secondary display vehicles include coffee, condiments, snacks, and canned vegetables. Our approach includes suggested placement in-store either near complementary categories or near the checkout.

Since loyal category shoppers are open to trying new flavors or sizes within the category, we work with our vendor partners to develop line extensions as in/out test programs. If the velocity of a test item is strong, the item becomes a strong candidate for permanent placement. We have successfully used this strategy to increase sales and market share in many categories, including ice cream, baking mixes, pasta sauce, and canned meats.
